The Phoenicia Malta has unveiled a new chapter in its long-standing story, presenting newly refurbished guestrooms that combine heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary comfort. The update reflects a careful design philosophy: evolve the experience without losing the soul of one of Malta’s most recognisable hotels.

The refurbishment places strong emphasis on material quality and a clear sense of place. Original architectural elements, including terrazzo flooring, have been retained to preserve the hotel’s historic character. These features are complemented by a lighter, more refined interior language that draws inspiration from Malta’s natural environment and architectural heritage.

Natural materials define the atmosphere of the new rooms. Light oak surfaces add warmth, while Emperador marble and travertine introduce a quiet sense of luxury. A neutral colour palette sets a calm foundation, enriched by subtle tones inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, local limestone, and the urban texture of Valletta.

The result is a space that feels elegant, contemporary, and unmistakably Maltese.

Craftsmanship plays a central role throughout the redesign. Bespoke Mdina Glass pieces appear as curated accents, celebrating Malta’s glassmaking tradition and adding cultural depth to the interiors.

Textural details, such as woven headboards influenced by the hotel’s gardens, further enhance the sense of comfort and connection to the surroundings.

At the heart of the refurbishment is the launch of the new Signature Rooms, available from January 24, 2026. Designed to offer both refined aesthetics and elevated in-room comfort, these rooms reflect The Phoenicia Malta’s commitment to timeless luxury shaped by local identity.
